I’m a geek & a manager (hence the Ronseal title of my other blog, Geek | Manager). I’m passionate (in an occasionally overexcited way) about technology and I love coaching & mentoring people.
I started out building systems, then became a Product Manager, then a Project & Programme Manager. These days I’m privileged to be managing teams of awesome technical folks. I studied Computer Science with Management (called Computer Information Systems at the time) at the University of Bath which was named University of the Year in 2011.
If you’re interested, my full professional profile is on LinkedIn and I tweet as Geek_Manager. You can also see which conferences/events I’m attending or speaking at on Lanyrd.
Some Cool Stuff I’ve Done
- I wrote a book! You can check out The Principles of Project Management on Amazon (including the Kindle edition).
- In 2010 the British Computer Society named me Young IT Professional of the Year in the UK IT Industry Awards.
- My undergrad research reapplied advances in artificial intelligence planning to project management — my dissertation was published by the University of Bath.
- I had the awesome experience of being part of a school team that built part of South Africa’s first satellite.
