Seth’s right about Dreamhost’s honesty in discussing their recent problems — I know personally as a customer of theirs I’ve been very impressed and it’s made me a LOT less likely to wander off elsewhere.

Re Dreamhost: you and me both! It was a little scary realizing that my sites were down on a day when the media might be looking at one of them, but at least I knew what was going on. (I’ve had entirely opposite experiences with hosts previously: bad things happened without explanation or apology.)
And somehow the utterly doleful tone of the last newsletter was quite redeeming.
