  • Foreword to “Eric Sink on the Business of Software” – Joel on Software
“Eventually, you’ll notice that one of the summer interns you hired is bringing in donuts on Friday morning and selling them for a buck. And I can only hope that you won’t take his profits and use it for a party he’s not invited to.”

  • Ten video sharing services compared – DV Guru
Nice comparison of various video sharing services

  • BBC NEWS | Programmes | Click | China wrestles with online gamers
Interesting to see the measures that the Chinese government is insisting on to limit excessive gaming. Quite clueful given the domain…

  • BBC NEWS | Health | Weak brain links ‘explain autism’
“It seems that, for people with ASD, paying attention to a face is much harder to do and doesn’t have the same effect.”

  • Mindfulness: The practice of being “here” | 43 Folders
“If you never learn to be here for this particular moment, you’ll remain a sleepy captive to every anxiety, fantasy, or unintentional habit that’s ever popped into your life. And that, my friends, is a crappy way to go through life.”

  • Explaining the new logo : journal : hicksdesign
Jon has a nice writeup explaining the rationale and development process for his cool and groovy new logo — nice one!

  • Did I dream this photo scanner? (plasticbag.org)
I want the exact same thing that Tom is describing — a way to convert all my old photos to digital via some sort of conveyor belt scanning (preferably for negs)

  • A brief follow-up on TV distribution… (plasticbag.org)
Tom’s written a more detailed followup to his initial post on TV distribution models. Very interesting thoughts and I must say I tend to agree with him — we’ve been doing this by failing to keep up with TV and just buying box sets for years!

  • Mummified Cat on Flickr – Photo Sharing!
“Tom Coates: Right. Okay. So basically what you’re saying is that you found the same things entertaining as a labrador would have.”
