Well, I’m back from Geneva and it was lovely. Sunny, just cool enough to be pleasant to walk around, great ice-cream, mountains that reminded me of home (except for the snow) and a massive jet of water in the lake which appears to be the main attraction. I took photos but unfortunately don’t have a digicam — I’ll try remember to scan in and post at some point
As a result of two days travel after a very busy weekend, I am behind on my reading but I did find the following:
- Gay marriage is legal in Massachusetts — happy day for everyone over there, I just hope that the Supreme Court eventually upholds the right to marriage across the country. Preferably before I get an assignment in Cinci
- Mark Pilgrim has written a great piece on MT 3 not being free enough anymore — good points, well said and he’s put his money where his mouth is. Personally, I’ll be sticking to this version as Typekey etc don’t particularly appeal to me, especially since MT-Blacklist does a fine job of keeping the comment spam in (relative) check
- Everyone is all worried about gay people getting married and (heaven forbid!) having great sex and potentially finding ways to have kids. Surely they should be more concerned about straight couples who don’t realise they need to have sex to have a baby?!? via Simon
- Interesting, detailed look at why Windows is a security nightmare, again via Si
- Aaron has a thoughtful, provoking look at the integrated schools ruling 50 yrs ago compared to the newly legal gay marriages — the discussion in the comments is interesting and fairly complete as well.
- Pizza Party USA is a campaign to make 29 Feb in the US a massive pizza party, funded by what used to be contributions to the presidential campaigns. Quality idea and well-written article, via an interview with MightyGirl

There’s an interesting discussion of the causes of software insecurity (and why Windows is worse than most) and what can be done about it in Bruce Schneier’s _Secrets and Lies_ (which I finished yesterday; full review to follow eventually).

LOL at the straight people! You’re right, straight people are weird. 😉
