Hey folks — this is entry #100. Not bad for around 6 months of existence, but still not up to the level of tech or posting regularity that I had envisaged. I won’t make too many excuses, but rest assured that it will all get much much better when I return to being a slacker student who actually engages in proper technical work in September, if not before. I’m afraid that I haven’t had much time to write commentary, but here are some cool things to mark the 100th anniversary of my pressing the submit button:
- The Perfect 404 — one of these days I’ll get around to implementing one of these here newfangled ideas
- Anil’s latest fantastic rant which is all about the dubious celebrity advertising partnering of Bob Dylan with lingerie. I do see his point
- How to save the world and increase your blog readership. Has its merits. via Andy, who has great suggestions of his own
- Blame India Watch — great new (?) blog that spots and ridicules instances of American journalism and IT developers blaming India for all their ills. Free market economy, people … and a funny website 🙂 via A Whole Lotta Nothing
- Not just pet-proof, but pet housing computer case — this close to 1 April, it might be a spoof, but never mind, it’s hilarious anyway! via Si
- Characteristics of a good test case — I love the advice for what you should do if you were confronted with the original test case. via Si
- “We’re sorry our president is an idiot. We didn’t vote for him” — ROTFLMAO. I want this bag! via BoingBoing
- Super Mario meets lesbian marriage — corny, but damn cute
- Interesting, fact-filled look at the marketing potential of blogging, via Anil
- Primer on Storywriting — a lot of this is similar to what my old short story professor used to say. Good tips, too long forgotten. via How to Save the World
- Micro$oft recruiters — I’ll let you all know if they make me change my mind. via Si
- Six barriers to open source adoption and 12 reasons for Open Source growth. Have powered down since I found these, so unfortunately no linky attribution love
- Swollen gummy bears!!
- The Black Mages — you really have to read it to believe it
- Drag and drop with Javascript
- Great Googly Moogly and an equally insightful, but longer and more detailed, article on the same topic
- Virtual assistants — I think this is legit, however much it sounds like the imaginary girlfriends previously sold on eBay, etc
- Robot footballers — how cute is this?
- Plagiarism on a small scale is just fine — apparently it just counts as teaching yourself. Go figure
- Blogs are just websites
- UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Ikea beats Micro$oft — and yes, I realise that’s a false generalisation, but it felt good to add it to my list of weird search phrases people might arrive here by 😉 via A Whole Lotta Nothing
