The demise of my work laptop meant I had an enforced extra week of holiday (not that I’m complaining, mind), so there’s lots that’s been stuck in my tabs just waiting to be blogged:
- Very detailed look at what’s going on with Google — article’s about 6 months old, but still very worth reading
- Predictions for the year ahead: long and detailed, from Forbes, concise and more useful from the Independent and I’m sure there are many others — pick the one you believe in. I wonder if the Independent’s claim that there will be no virus for Mac OS X is inviting trouble
- On a similar vein, Vint Cerf’s predictions for where the internet is going — I particularly like the point about the internet stopping running on the phone network and become the medium upon which it exists…
- Looking back: The Eight Biggest Tech Flops ever and the standards broken in 2003 — not exactly sure where any of these links came from, apologies to anyone left uncredited…
- Statistically the top albums of 2003
- Screw Concorde, travel’s going to get much much faster … I really hope that they get this done ahead of the other stakeholders and make an absolute killing
- Cool hardware stuff: 5Gz achieved by cooling with liquid nitrogen and A WinXP box in … well … a WinXP box!
- Comedy list of things not to do during Return of the King
- Fantastic story about a terrorist fish and how the attention it received certainly enabled any real terrorists trying to act that day..
- 10 Ads America won’t see — and they all look wicked to me 🙂
- ‘Grandparenting will never be the same’ — I wish we’d had this when my family were all in England and we were growing up in South Africa…
- The Miss Digital World website is now up — still not sure how this one is going to turn out once the feminist groups catch hold of the concept
- This is reminiscent of the painted fly that Si discovered and got very animated about. It’s one of my enduring memories of our first year of university
- Geek Shakes Tiny Fist. Handful of Readers Yawn. Film at Eleven!
- New Year’s Resolution
- Instant Armor — I think I’ve been watching too much Alias. I heard all of this in Marshall’s voice
- A very silly boy
- Antiba finally got some coverage! — they’re a great band from Bath, most of whom are at Bath University and at least one of whom was in my Motorbike Club until the band started to really promote itself. Well worth a download of the MP3 samples on the page
- Now I have extra reason to hope he gets elected — the cheese looks good on him
And now, goodnight!
